11+ Holiday Intensive Course

Enrol in our 5-day holiday intensive course designed to identify strengths and weaknesses across key 11+ subjects and boost your child's skills in key areas of knowledge. Check out the course content here.

Each day consists of 3.5 hours of learning time plus brain breaks, with a maximum of 6 students grouped by similar academic abilities.

The course price is £120 per day, totaling £600 for the complete five-day programme.

If you join a course that has already started, you will only be charged for the remaining lessons.

Day 1 - All Skills (4 Lessons)

Day 1 of this intensive programme will introduce students to a key skill for each 11+ exam subject. Our experienced tutors will analyse the results of students’ familiarisation tests to identify their strengths and weaknesses and tailor support throughout the course.

11+ Non-Verbal Reasoning: SNAPSS Method & Series

  • Method Overview: Learn the SNAPSS method for analysing shapes and patterns.
  • Practical Application: Apply SNAPSS techniques to typical 11+ series question types for a deeper understanding.

11+ Maths: 4 Operations in Focus

  • Core Skills: Strengthen mental arithmetic and long-form methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Application: Apply the 4 Operations across 11+ topics such as Fractions and Algebra for enhanced problem-solving.

11+ Verbal Reasoning: Grouping Question Types

  • Skill Building: Study the different ways in which words can be grouped e.g. occupational nouns, masculine/feminine nouns, collective nouns, and more.
  • Practical Application: Apply grouping and word-association skills in typical 11+ verbal reasoning questions.

Each segment of the day is crafted to introduce key 11+ skills, offering students a broad foundation across all subjects. Through interactive sessions and activities, students will boost their overall test-taking strategies and confidence, setting them up for success across the 11+ exam.

All class workbooks will be provided on our online learning platform. This course is suitable for students currently in Year 4 and 5.

Day 2 - English (4 Lessons)

Join us for an engaging day where students will enhance their 11+ English skills through interactive lessons and activities.

  • Fun Warm-Up Games: Students will kick off the day with enjoyable English-related games that foster a love for learning.

11+ Vocabulary Builder

  • Learning Vocabulary: Students will learn the secrets to achieving a wide vocabulary, the key to success in 11+ English and Verbal Reasoning.
  • Decoding Skills: Focus on study skills for decoding unknown vocabulary in literary and comprehension texts.

11+ Punctuation & Grammar Booster

  • Punctuation Confidence: Improve understanding of punctuation and apply skills to cloze questions commonly found in the 11+ exams.
  • Tense Accuracy: Don't skip out on tense accuracy! Practice key mixed tense and grammar exercises on maintaining tense accuracy in writing, followed by a short writing task to apply these skills.

11+ Comprehension: Inference Focus

  • Developing Inference Skills: Recap the basics of inference, a critical skill for tackling a variety of comprehension questions.
  • Practical Application: Students will practise applying inference skills to challenging 11+ level texts.

11+ Literature: Analysing Characters

  • Character Analysis: Analyse characters in modern and 19th/20th century literary texts.
  • Quote Identification: Students will practise finding quotes and making inferences to deepen their understanding of characters, preparing for both multiple-choice and long-answer questions.

Each session is carefully structured to reinforce students' abilities in crucial English areas. Through targeted practice and engaging exercises, students will strengthen comprehension and literary analysis skills required for success in many 11+ exams.

Day 3 - Maths (4 Lessons)

Students will engage in a dynamic day focused on building essential maths skills, featuring interactive lessons and enjoyable activities.

11+ Mental Maths

  • Drill And Revise: Students will practise their times tables, a crucial skill for performing quick calculations in exam settings.
  • Applications: Engage with various mental maths 11+ question types, culminating in a challenge that tests their ability to solve worded problems quickly.

11+ Fractions & Decimals

  • Understanding Fractions: Revise equivalent fractions and complete simple fraction sums in 11+ question styles.
  • Conversion: Practise converting fractions to decimals and solve challenging word problems involving both fractions and decimals.

11+ Shape & Measures

  • Recap of Shapes: Review key 2D and 3D shapes, the building blocks of shape and measure.
  • Application: Apply learned skills to solve 11+ style questions, including area and perimeter word problems.

11+ Word Problems

  • Tackling Word Problem: Recognise that worded problems can challenge even the strongest 11+ candidates.
  • Practise And Progression: Students will practise a range of problems, gradually increasing in difficulty, to enhance their ability to decode and solve mathematical scenarios described in words.

Each session is carefully structured to reinforce students' abilities in crucial maths areas. Through targeted practice and engaging exercises, students will strengthen problem-solving skills, from mental maths to complex word problems, all essential for success in the 11+ Maths exam.

Day 4 - Verbal Reasoning (4 Lessons)

Students will participate in an engaging day dedicated to enhancing their verbal reasoning skills through interactive lessons and fun activities.

11+ Alphabet & Series

  • Engaging Practice: Students will practise letter sequences through interactive alphabet games to improve familiarisation.
  • Skill Development: Focus on developing pattern and sequence recognition skills, applying these to various 11+ series question types.

11+ Manipulating Letters & Words

  • Identifying Patterns: Practise identifying word patterns and recognising word families with associated question types.
  • Familiarity With Questions: Students will get familiar with the range of letter, spelling and word-based question types.

11+ Grouping Skills & Questions

  • Word Association Skills: Develop skills for associating words and identifying relationships between different concepts.
  • Practice Exercises: Students will practise solving verbal analogies and identifying the odd one out in verbal reasoning question types.

11+ Verbal Reasoning Codes

  • Decoding Skills: Learn to decode and encode words and numbers using different codes and cyphers.
  • Puzzle Practice: Engage in activities that involve letter and number substitutions to solve puzzles and various 11+ question types.

Each part of the day focuses on developing verbal reasoning skills through strategic exercises. Students will practise recognising patterns, manipulating letters and words, and decoding questions, building the confidence to tackle 11+ verbal reasoning questions effectively.

Day 5 - Non-Verbal Reasoning (4 Lessons)

Students will participate in an engaging day dedicated to enhancing their non-verbal reasoning skills through interactive lessons and fun activities.

  • Practice visualising and manipulating 3D shapes and their nets in 11+ question types.
