Enrol in our comprehensive 12-week course tailored to prepare your child for the 11+ exam, focusing on identifying strengths and weaknesses while enhancing essential skills. You can explore the full course content here.

Each weekend consists of 3.5 hours of learning time plus brain breaks, with a maximum of 6 students grouped by similar academic abilities. The total cost for the 12-week course is £1,440, which covers all key subjects. Additionally, we offer the flexibility to choose just one subject, such as Maths, for a cost of £480 for the entire duration.

If you join that has already started, you will only be charged for the remaining lessons.



Maths

Our 11+ Maths tutoring course is designed to provide your child with a solid foundation in essential mathematical concepts, tailored to the specific demands of the 11+ exam. Each lesson seamlessly progresses from Year 4 basics to Year 5 complexity, culminating in challenging questions that mirror the rigour of the 11+ test and even extend into Year 6 territory. By focusing on core skills, applying them to exam-style problems, and tackling word problems, we equip your child with the confidence and knowledge needed to excel in their 11+ journey.

Week 1

Number 1
Foundations: Develop a strong understanding of place value, counting, and negative numbers.
Application: Practice reading, writing, ordering, comparing, and rounding numbers up to 1,000,000.

Week 2

Number 2
Core Skills: Master the art of rounding numbers to different decimal places and become proficient in reading and writing Roman numerals.
Real-World Application: Apply these skills to solve exam-style practical problems and real-world scenarios.

Week 3

Four Operations 1
Core Skills: Master the fundamental operations of addition and subtraction, including mental calculations and formal written methods.
Problem-Solving: Apply addition and subtraction to solve multi-step word problems, using rounding to estimate answers.

Week 4

Four Operations 2
Core Skills: Develop a strong understanding of multiplication and division, including times tables, factors, multiples, and prime numbers.
Advanced Operations: Use long multiplication and short division to solve complex problems involving scaling and rates.

Week 5

Fractions and Decimals 1
Core Concepts: Firm-up the fundamental concepts of fractions, including equivalent fractions, mixed numbers, and improper fractions.
Operations: Practice adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions with the same denominator

Week 6

Fractions and Decimals 2
Decimal Operations: Learn to round decimals to a specified degree of accuracy and apply this skill to solve money-related problems.
Number Conversion: Master the conversion between fractions, decimals, and percentages.

Week 7

Recap and Assessment
Skill Review: Revisit key concepts from previous lessons, including number sense, operations, fractions, decimals, and problem-solving strategies.
Practice Exam: Simulate an 11+ exam environment with a test that covers all topics learned so far.

Week 8

Measurement & Geometry 1
Core Concept: Master the conversion between different units of measurement and apply this knowledge to calculate perimeters and areas of various shapes.
Real-World Applications: Solve practical problems involving measurement, such as calculating distances and determining the size of objects.

Week 9

Measurement & Geometry 2
Shape Properties: Explore the properties of 2D shapes, including symmetry and translation.
Visual Reasoning: Develop spatial reasoning skills by identifying and describing the position of shapes on a coordinate grid.

Week 10

Measurement & Geometry 3
Time Management: Understand the concept of time, including telling time, calculating time intervals, and converting between different time units.
Problem Solving: Apply geometric concepts to solve word problems involving measurement, distance, and time.

Week 11

Statistics 1
Data Interpretation: Learn to read, interpret, and analyse data presented in various formats, including tables, charts, and line graphs.
Data Representation: Practise creating line graphs to represent data over time and use them to solve problems involving comparison, addition, and subtraction.

Week 12

End of Course Review
Comprehensive Review: Revise key concepts from all topics, including number, geometry, measurement, statistics, and problem-solving strategies.
Exam Practice: Practise exam skills and assess understanding of all core concepts and their application to various 11+ problem types.comparison, addition, and subtraction.

Reasoning

This term, our Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning course is designed to enhance your child's critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Whether they're new to reasoning or seeking to refine their skills, our lessons provide a solid foundation in essential techniques. By building upon existing knowledge from Maths and English, we empower students to approach a variety of reasoning problems with confidence. Our comprehensive approach ensures that your child masters the fundamentals and can apply them effectively to different question types and exam formats.

Week 1

Familiarisation Skills for Reasoning
VR: Introduce fundamental concepts for verbal reasoning including alphabet recognition and word games.
NVR: Introduce basic concepts of non-verbal reasoning, including the SNAPSS test and fundamental shape manipulations.

Week 2

Vocabulary & Manipulating Shapes
VR: Expand vocabulary and enhance word decoding skills.
NVR: Practise essential skills like recognising rotations and orientations and understanding spatial relationships.

Week 3

Series & Sequences
VR: Practise identifying patterns in letter, word, and number sequences. Develop the ability to apply these patterns to complete series and solve series questions.
NVR: Practise identifying patterns in sequences of shapes and symbols. Develop the ability to recognise transformations, such as rotations, reflections, and translations, and apply them to complete sequences.

Week 4

Analogies
VR: Practise identifying relationships between words, such as synonyms, antonyms, and part-whole relationships. Apply this knowledge to solve analogy problems.
NVR: Practise identifying relationships between shapes and symbols. Develop the ability to compare and contrast objects based on their properties and attributes.

Week 5

Odd One Out
VR: Practise identifying words that don't fit into a group based on their meaning or spelling. Develop the ability to recognise patterns and anomalies in word relationships.
NVR: Practise identifying shapes or patterns that don't fit into a group. Develop the ability to spot similarities and differences between shapes and patterns.

Week 6

Recap and Assessment
Skills Review: Revisit key concepts in verbal and non-verbal reasoning, including vocabulary, analogies, series, and odd one out.
Practice Test: Apply learned skills to a practice test that includes a mix of verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions.

Week 7

Letters/Words 1 & Matrices
VR: Practice letter and word manipulation skills, including rearranging letters, forming new words, and applying spelling rules.
NVR: Develop spatial reasoning skills by practising extending patterns in 2x2 and 3x3 matrices. Identify the underlying rules that govern the pattern and apply them to complete the missing parts.

Week 8

Letters/Words 2 & Merged Shapes
VR: Practise advanced word manipulation skills, including forming new words from existing ones and understanding word relationships.
NVR: Develop spatial reasoning skills by practising identifying and combining shapes in complex layered images.

Week 9

Synonyms / Antonyms & Like Figures
Verbal Reasoning: Practise identifying synonyms and antonyms. Develop an understanding of word connotations and associations.
Non Verbal Reasoning: Develop the ability to identify similarities and differences between shapes, paying close attention to small details.

Week 10

Codes
Verbal Reasoning: Practice decoding and encoding messages using various ciphers and codes. Develop the ability to recognise patterns in letter, word and number codes and apply this to exam style questions.
Non Verbal Reasoning: Practice decoding and encoding shapes and symbols. Develop the ability to identify patterns in visual codes and apply them to complete sequences or solve puzzles.

Week 11

Logic Puzzles & 3D Shapes
Verbal Reasoning: Practise solving logic puzzles that involve analysing information expressed in words, identifying patterns, and drawing logical conclusions.
Non Verbal Reasoning: Develop spatial reasoning skills by visualising and manipulating 3D shapes. Practise identifying nets for 3D shapes and understanding how they fold to form solid objects.

Week 12

End of Course Review
Skills Review: Revisit key concepts in verbal and non-verbal reasoning, including vocabulary, analogies, series, codes, and spatial reasoning.
Practice Test: Practice exam skills and assess understanding of all core concepts and their application to various 11+ problem types.

English

Our 11+ English course is designed to equip your child with the fundamental language skills necessary for academic success. This term, we delve into core areas such as comprehension, literary analysis, spelling, punctuation, and grammar. While the specific English requirements of 11+ exams can vary across schools and regions, the skills covered in our course form the bedrock of language proficiency. Even if your child's exams don't explicitly test English, the enhanced vocabulary and analytical abilities gained from this course will undoubtedly benefit their performance in verbal reasoning and other areas, setting them up for success in a selective secondary school environment.

Week 1

Unknown Words & Decoding Vocabulary
Contextual Clues: Teach students how to use context clues to decipher the meaning of unfamiliar words.
Vocabulary Building: Introduce new vocabulary words relevant to 11+ level texts and practice understanding them in context.

Week 2

Find & Explain
Information Retrieval: Practise locating specific information within comprehension passages.
Textual Analysis: Develop skills in analysing text to understand the main ideas and supporting details.

Week 3

Using Quotation
Quotation Analysis: Teach students how to identify and understand the purpose of quotations within a text.
Question Answering: Practise using quotations to answer questions, ensuring that they are integrated smoothly into the response.

Week 4

Summarising Information
Text Analysis: Teach students how to identify the main ideas and supporting details in a text.
Summarisation Skills: Practice summarising key points from multiple paragraphs, identifying the main idea and supporting details..

Week 5

Making Inferences
Inferential Reading: Teach students how to read between the lines and draw conclusions based on the information provided in a text.
Keyword Recognition: Familiarise students with exam question keywords that signal the need to make inferences and prepare them for tricky inference-based questions.

Week 6

Recap & Assessment
Skills Review: Revisit key comprehension skills, including vocabulary, information retrieval, summarisation, and inference. Practice Test: Assess student
understanding through a practice test that covers a range of comprehension question types.

Week 7

Reading Literature
Textual Analysis: Practise analysing poetry and prose texts, working on quick annotation skills to aid understanding and identify key themes.
Question Answering: Develop skills in answering comprehension questions based on literary texts, focusing on understanding the author's intent and the underlying meaning.

Week 8

Literacy techniques Questions
Technique Identification: Teach students to recognise and understand a range of literary techniques, such as metaphor, simile, and personification.
Analysis and Interpretation: Practise analysing texts to identify the use of literary techniques and explain their effect on the meaning and tone of the text.

Week 9

Analysing Characters
Inferential Analysis: Teach students to use inference to understand characters' thoughts, feelings, and motivations, even when they are not explicitly stated.
Textual Evidence: Practise using quotations to support claims about characters, focusing on both direct and indirect characterisation.

Week 10

SPaG 1
Spelling and Punctuation: Practise spelling 11+ level vocabulary words and review basic punctuation rules. Apply these skills to complete multiple-choice and cloze passage questions.
Grammar: Develop a strong understanding of verb tenses, agreement, and voice. Practise using advanced punctuation marks, such as colons, semicolons, and dashes, in written work.

Week 11

SPaG 2
Spelling and Prefixes/Suffixes: Practice spelling 11+ level vocabulary words and review common prefixes and suffixes. Apply this to multiple-choice and cloze passage questions.
Writing with Accuracy: Apply Spelling, grammar and punctuation to accurate writing and responding to 11+ level prompts in timed conditions.

Week 12

End of Course Review
Skills Review: Revisit core English skills, including reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing.
Exam Practice: Practice exam skills and assess understanding of all core concepts and their application to various 11+ texts and question types.
